Omeka S is a web-publishing platform for storing research images and creating online exhibits. Using Omeka S at American University allows you to create your own archive of research materials, describe them with metadata, and tie them together with narrative to create a unique online showcase for your research.
Omeka S is supported by American University Library. AU also offers ESRI StoryMaps and EdSpace/WordPress as options for creating online exhibitions. These three platforms differ in complexity and features and in their suitability for particular use cases. The best use case for Omeka S is creating a long-term archive of research images that you might like to reuse for a number of exhibits. It takes some time to upload and create metadata for each image, but the reward is better search engine optimization for discovery of your research.
